Rumor is there used to be only one kind of human- that is, if you consider them human at all.

Welcome to Eagle’s Nest, Colorado, home of the University of Colorado Eagles. A sprawling, idyllic town populated by mostly college aged adults with new and bright ideas- ideas that may make some of the locals a little uncomfortable.

Steeped in tradition, the founding families of Eagle’s Nest still live in the olden days, days in which the winged creatures were traded, sold, and used as slaves. Many of the families are reluctant to change this mindset, although the Angel Laws are becoming harder to ignore- especially with the onslaught of young, fresh minds pouring into the area as the University of Colorado becomes the first state school to integrate. It’s become a riskier deal to keep angels as pets, even with the new names these old families gave them- hired help, entertainers, all thin veils for their true roles as pets- slaves.

With so many different walks of life in one area, it seems that change is inevitable. But with all of the anti-angel movements in private, well.

It’ll be impossible not to ruffle a few feathers.

Michelle Ringer | 20 | Sophomore | Human | Open

Michelle has worked in the Hart Bookstore since she was 17, using the money she made to help pay her freshman year of college. She never really understood the hype about the angel versus human dilemma. They seemed like alright people, they were very nice and generally quiet, a quality that she could greatly appreciate. Although she didn’t know any angels personally, she was always very curious about them.

When the Angel Laws took effect the Hart’s hired an angel to make the place seem more angel friendly, the young boy was sweet and quiet, but there was some quality about him that made Michelle curious. There seemed to be more to him than meets the eye.

With the desegregation of the college Michelle was able to meet more of them, and even joined HAA, much to her parents and her boss’ dismay. While Michelle may not care about what the Angels do, not everyone is so liberal in their opinions.

Alexandra “Lexi” Montgomery | 18 | Freshman | Human | Open

Easy-going is something that everyone would describe Lexi. She was always the girl who had a smile on her face and kind words for everyone. A high school cheerleader, Lexi never thought she would be smart enough to get into the University of Colorado, but when she did she was extremely happy. But then things changed and the Angel Laws took effect, something that for so long she had simply ignored: what had been going on behind closed doors. She had angels as servants- everyone did- but she never realized just how wrong it could be before the bills were passed.

Lexi took it upon herself to figure out more about what was going on in her own family and with her friends, but being nosy can certainly get many people in trouble, even easy going girls like her.

Tyler Williams | 19 | Human | Open

The Williams family is one of the founding families of Eagle’s Nest. Being the original owners of the Angel Trade Company, and the current owners of the Eagle’s Nest Country Club, a human’s only club complete with tennis courts and wet bar, it is painfully obvious where Tyler and his family’s opinions lie about the status of angels.

All of Tyler’s family had gone to the University of Colorado, attending classes, joining fraternities and sororities and being all around picturesque members of society. That is, until the Angel Laws were instated and the university became desegregated. Unfortunately for Tyler that meant no college, because he hadn’t applied anywhere else, and his family would not allow him to attend a place that allowed angels.

Tyler felt that the angels were the ones responsible for this, the ones that made his life miserable, and he wasn’t the only one who felt that way. He has been drawing up ideas for an anti-angel movement in the time out of school. Tyler can usually be found around the places that still don’t allow angels access, but it’s becoming harder to continue with that lifestyle as more and more of them pour in to the town to go to college.
